The Need to Be Everywhere: The Ever-expanding Reach
of DexKnows Profile Pages

Dex One’s recently announced partnership with Yahoo! – which allows all Dex One clients’ online listings to appear within Yahoo! Local search results at no additional cost – doesn’t just expand the longstanding relationship between the two companies, but further broadens the reach of the content found in DexKnows profile pages.

“Given the highly fragmented nature of online local searches, it definitely makes strategic sense for Dex One to syndicate their customers’ ad content to third party websites like Yahoo!” said Sebastien Provencher, co-founder, Praized Media.

DexKnows profile pages contain the type of information one would expect from a local business listing:  contact information, hours of operation, maps and directions, and more.  But many also contain user-generated ratings and reviews (both from DexKnows and yelp users), online coupons, videos, and other tools that help businesses reach ready-to-buy consumers.  Initially, the only way for consumers to find the profiles was by searching exclusively on DexKnows.  But through the Yahoo! agreement – as well as agreements with companies like CityGrid Media and more – Dex One is embarking on an aggressive effort to broaden the reach of DexKnows profiles and, therefore, expand its clients’ online reach as well.

The goal with this approach is to provide local businesses with additional online exposure through a profile that has already been developed for them.  It’s a key component of Dex One’s strategy, which is to ensure that local businesses can be found wherever consumers may be searching.  This is especially important as consumers are presented with more local search options.

It is likely this type of approach will become even more commonplace in the local search industry as local businesses continue to look for ways to present themselves to online consumers – and stretch the value of their advertising dollars.  In the meantime, Dex One intends to continue to augment its offerings to provide its clients with as many opportunities as possible to be found by consumers, wherever their browsers may take them.
